Who doesn't love these bright and happy flowers?

Marigolds are one of the easiest flowers to grow. They are not picky about the soil they're planted in, although they do like to have good drainage. Once they start blooming you'll have beautiful flowers all the way until November in some areas.

Marigolds attract beneficial insects to your garden to help with pollination or to help protect your plants from other harmful pests.

Marigolds are great for gardens, hanging baskets, border and edging. The roots and stems help reduce root knot nematodes. When planted near cruciferous plants they can protect against cabbage worms, tomato plants from horn worms and is a good companion plant to bush beans, squash, cucumbers and eggplant.

These flowers will grow in shades of yellow, orange, deep orange and sometimes almost red. Marigolds are edible and can be made into tea, used to garnish salads or desserts, or infused in oil to make extracts.

Regular dead heading encourages more flower production and lengthens the flowering period.
